Busuu apps review by Sania Mirza



I think learn english language in school is not enough. If we learn just based on textbooks, vocabulary memorization or exams, i mean those are important, but they are not enough to make you fluent in speaking or understanding what native speakers say. Self-study through Youtube or internet is the same, just theories and tips without real practice, it makes the knowledge just stuck in your mind and rarely gets used in daily life. 

And im presenting to you application to make your way to learn english easier, its called Busuu. You can get Busuu on google playstore or on appstore, with a great rating and so many people use this app means that they recommending to use Busuu as your friend to improve your English skills. 


Beside this app is recommended, there are plus and mines from Busuu. For the relevance, the app’s purpose and student learning is connected not just interesting but help student to enhance their skill. As far as i use the app, student get the feedback but not that deep, it is like just formality feedback after student do the tasks. Busuu with thinking skills is good in my opinion, because yes they evaluating, applying, and remembering also they have tasks to speak with AI and enhance their thinking skills even though the topic is fixed. And the important thing is the app is ease to use, student can use it as easy as other apps. Because of the ease to use i think student will highly motivated to learn through this apps, because it is suits for beginners, they have it adjustable levels from beginners to advanced, the materials are role play by native speaker, the tasks is fill the blank, repetition exercises but not writing friendly, also you can be friends with native speaker and having a chit-chat with them. Student performance records are saved and easily shared, so student can continue to the next tasks without starting from the beginning. Everyone can access Busuu on all mobile phone and desktop device, but this platform is not free, user have to pay to unlock other functions. 



Learning through application can implemented  outside of formal class hours or student use it as self-learning at home. In context of ELT teachers can give students to use AI speaking practice before the formal class as a warm-up. 

The impact and the advantages of using Application for ELT is to fill the gap between schools material and reality, students seeing english through role play and native speakers its not just memorizing grammar or as active communication but to open what its look like when its turns to reality. The presence of native speakers in role-play materials provides authentic accent exposure.

Weakness of Busuu are the feedback looks like just formality once students compliting tasks, not that writing friendly, actually the app do writing but just one or two vocabulary and dominated by fill in the blank. Also users must pay for a premium to unlock all the features.

Busuu's stregth on increasing vocabulary through repetition, Listening skills through native convo and speaking from practice with tasks or AI.

Despite using application are good, fun, and interactive. But classroom learning is still important and teach ussomething that we can't get from anywhere else.
